World Cup records: ask which tournament first
“World Cup record” sounds precise until you ask which competition, which edition and which category. Men’s, women’s and age-group tournaments belong to a connected football world, but their records are not interchangeable.
Start with the competition’s official archive. Separate qualifying matches from the final tournament, regulation time from extra time and goals in a match from a penalty shoot-out. Even a simple leaderboard needs a definition before it can support a comparison.
An encyclopedia should preserve the date of the source and the edition covered. A statement that was correct after one final can become outdated after another. Records therefore need reviewed updates, not an undated sentence copied into hundreds of player profiles.
Prem Football’s tournament hubs provide a route into official competition pages and historical chapters. A licensed, verified results feed is still needed before the site can maintain a current tournament database automatically.
